Today at 9AM, I did a thing. I’ve thought about doing it for ages and today was the right time — I launched my first podcast.
It’s called The Mic Check Sessions, and Episode 0 is now live on Spotify.
This first episode is short and stripped right back — no jingle, no fancy editing, no set structure. Just me, a microphone, the sound of birds (and, for some reason, a passing steam train), and a nervous but sincere decision to begin. You could even say it’s ASMR-lite — unintentional, but strangely soothing.
I called it Episode 0 – Just Press Record because that’s exactly what I did. I didn’t know what I’d say, where it might lead, or who would care. But I knew that if I didn’t start, I never would.
And maybe that’s the point of this whole thing.
🎧 Why I’m Starting a Podcast
This project isn’t about perfection — it’s about connection. I’ve got a lot I want to share, and sometimes writing just doesn’t capture the tone or emotion in the same way. I want The Mic Check Sessions to be a space for:
- 🎶 Music talk — the songs that shaped me, the ones that saved me, and the ones that deserve more attention
- 📸 Behind the scenes of my photography work and what it means to me
- 💬 Mental health reflections — the quiet stuff, the unspoken stuff, the real stuff
- ✨ Creative process moments — the wins, the weird ideas, the wobbles
- 🎙️ Interviews and guest voices — eventually, when I’m ready
- 🎤 And yes… plenty of Eurovision chatter now and again
This won’t be a weekly commitment (yet), and it might not follow the usual format. I’m just letting it breathe and evolve. A voice finding its rhythm.
🎵 The Lyric Thing
At the end of each episode, I’ll be including a lyric — just one line that’s stuck in my head, hit me in the gut, or made me smile. Sometimes silly, sometimes profound. In Episode 0, I used a line from Des’ree’s Life:
“I’m afraid of the dark, especially when I’m in a park, and there’s no one else around.”
It felt weirdly perfect for how vulnerable it felt to record something and put it out there with no map, no noise, just me. It made me laugh, too — which helped.
🎧 Listen Now & Tell Me What You Think
Episode 0 is live now on Spotify. It’s a soft launch — a voice note, really — and I’ve added a little poll asking whether you’d like to hear more. Your feedback will help me figure out what this podcast might become.

Whether it grows into something big or stays small and personal, I’m glad I started.
Thanks for pressing play — I’m excited to see where The Mic Check Sessions might take us.
