Not every creative idea fits neatly into a category. Some ideas simply begin with curiosity — a new location, a new technique, or a piece of technology worth experimenting with.
The Projects section of Studio DJC Creative is where those ideas live.
This page documents creative experiments, personal projects, and explorations across photography, video, drone work, and sound. Some projects begin as simple tests of new techniques, while others grow into larger creative concepts.
For me, photography has never existed in isolation. It sits alongside film, sound design, storytelling, and the wider world of creative technology.
Many of the posts you will find here are part of that ongoing journey.
CREATIVE EXPLORATION
Projects often begin with experimentation.
That might mean exploring long-exposure photography in a city at night, capturing landscapes during blue hour, or testing how movement and light interact during extended exposures. Other times it might involve flying a drone to capture new perspectives that cannot be seen from the ground.
I am also currently studying Music, Sound and Technology with the Open University as part of my degree. Through that work I am learning more about sound recording, acoustics, and audio production — skills that connect naturally with video work and storytelling.
The combination of image, sound, and movement opens up exciting creative possibilities. Cinematic video, ambient soundscapes, drone footage, and documentary-style visuals all sit within that space.
Projects are where those ideas can be explored freely.
WHY PROJECTS MATTER
Creative experimentation is often where the most interesting ideas appear.
Trying new techniques, working in unfamiliar locations, or testing different equipment can lead to discoveries that shape future work. Many techniques that later become part of professional shoots begin life as small personal experiments.
This page acts as a record of those explorations — a place where ideas are tested, refined, and sometimes completely reinvented.
RECENT PROJECT STORIES
Each post documents a specific experiment, location, or creative idea, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how different techniques are developed and explored.
COLLABORATIONS
Creative projects often become more interesting when people work together.
If you have an idea for a visual project, a creative collaboration, or something experimental you would like to explore, feel free to get in touch. Projects can range from creative portraits and location shoots to video concepts, drone footage, or sound-based ideas.
Some of the most rewarding creative work begins simply with a conversation.
